On October 13, 2015, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) released the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the FY 2016 – FY 2019 Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) Program grant cycle. Although the actual amount available will not be determined until enactment of the final FY 2016 federal budget, approximately $7,500,000 is expected to be available annually to fund approximately 21 awardees. Applicants may apply for a ceiling amount of up to $350,000 per year, and the due date for applications is December 16, 2015.
Eligible applicants include, “APA-accredited doctoral schools and programs of health service psychology, APA-accredited doctoral internships in professional psychology, and APA-accredited post-doctoral residency programs in practice psychology.” Funding priority will be given to programs focused on serving the needs of vulnerable groups such as older adults and children, individuals with mental health or substance-related disorders, victims of abuse or trauma and of combat stress disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries, homeless individuals, chronically ill persons, and their families.
