We hope you are excited about this year’s AERA conference. For this year’s community service event, the Graduate Student Council will be sponsoring a book drive benefiting a local organization in the D.C. area. We are pleased to invite all graduate students, professors, and colleagues attending the Annual Conference on April 8-12, 2016 to donate any like new or gently used books. Donations will be going to the Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative (GAFS), a Washington, D.C. organization dedicated to developing a neighborhood-based system that builds on strengths, nurtures families, and keeps children safe from abuse and neglect. To learn more about GAFS, go to gafsc-dc.org. Donations will be accepted at the GSC Information Booth (Outside the registration room) or the GSC Resource Room (Located at the Convention Center, Level 1, Room 140 AB).
Attached here, you will find a flyer with information about the book drive that we encourage you to share with your colleagues and anyone you know who will be attending the Annual Meeting. Please feel free to contact our Community Leader, Matt King, at [email protected] with any questions.
