The Journal of Behavioral Education is preparing a Special Issue for publication in March 2020 on the use of telehealth technologies in educational settings. Articles that advance and synthesize scientific developments relating to the application of telehealth technologies are welcome.

Submissions should focus on technologies that inform and deliver behavioral-based assessment and interventions to individuals who present with behavioral and/or learning issues (e.g., externalizing challenging behaviors and/or academic or other skill deficits); telehealth-based training; the use of telecommunication technology (e.g., video and audio conferencing, web-based modules, SMS text messaging, chat messaging, virtual reality, wearable or sensor technologies, and robotics or therapeutic gaming) to deliver assessment and intervention to improve behavioral outcomes for individuals with a variety of diagnoses are also invited.

Contributions may address but are not limited to:

  • Telehealth assessment in educational settings
  • Telehealth and direct treatment of populations receiving behavioral interventions in educational settings
  • Telehealth to supervise, train, or support providers
  • Telehealth/telepractice to train or support families
  • Treatment planning and coordination of care across providers and service systems

Submissions of original empirical research that include direct observation measures of the primary dependent variable are strongly encouraged. Systematic reviews and meta-analysis are also welcome.

Submitted manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with JOBE author guidelines for articles: https://www.springer.com/journal/10864. See “Instructions for Authors” on the right-side panel. Manuscripts must include a cover letter clarifying submission for the special issue and explaining relevance to this topic. All manuscripts will undergo standard double-blinded peer review.
