The American Psychological Association, the American Educational Research Association, the American Academy of Social and Work and Social Welfare, the National Academy of Education, and others will be holding a congressional briefing on Wednesday, June 12th (3:30 – 5:00 PM Eastern Time) which is designed to provide current scientific data surrounding the pressing need to reduce violence in schools and communities.

Says AERA: “During the event, experts will present empirical research detailing the impact of gun violence on the education and well-being of students, their families, and local communities. They will also address evidence-based policies and practices that can assist with successfully mitigating weapons and violence, increasing student empowerment, and enhancing community safety.”
