How meaningful is our research if the findings do not inform practice? And how relevant is our research if it is not informed by the needs of practitioners? Education researchers are addressing this research-practice gap in many domains. See this thought provoking article from Educational Researcher: Rethinking Connections Between Research and Practice in Education: A Conceptual Framework (https://journals.sagepub.com/stoken/default+domain/JGwUhtWk3zRrhDkx3nus/full) by Farley-Ripple et al. (2018). Educational psychologists also have acknowledged the research-practice gap, but what can we do together to narrow the gap?

Please consider joining Alysia Roehrig ([email protected]) in a new Division 15 Ad Hoc Practice Committee. I am looking for a few folks interested in helping Div 15 figure out how to do a better job of linking practice and educational psychology research. We would meet monthly (via an online meeting platform) to brainstorm ways our committee could reduce the research-practice gap and to plan and implement at least a couple of our ideas over the next year. If you are interested in participating, please complete this very brief survey by September 27th at the following link: https://edpsych.us/PracticeCommitteeSurvey
