Division 15 (Educational Psychology) of the American Psychological Association invites doctoral students who are Division 15 members to apply to the Claire Ellen Weinstein Annual Graduate Student Seminar, during the 2020 APA Annual Convention.

What do seminar attendees do? How long is the seminar?

Students will hear from experts in educational psychology about developing a program of research, fostering productive working relationships, conducting translational research, and pursuing job opportunities in and beyond academia.  Students will participate in mentoring sessions with leading faculty to receive feedback on their dissertation proposals and research programs as well as on their professional identity. Finally, students will have opportunities to network with senior scholars and future colleagues.  Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, activities will be conducted in person or virtually.

The seminar is free. Students will receive a small stipend, adjusted according to whether the seminar is held in person or virtually. Participants are expected to be available for all seminar and related Division 15 events from the afternoon of August 5th, 2020 to the morning of August 9th. Convention dates are August 6th-9th, 2020.

Who is eligible to apply to the seminar?

Applicants must be full-time doctoral students who are in the preliminary stages of their dissertation research. Students from institutions large and small and from all domains relevant to educational psychology are encouraged to apply. The seminar will accept a maximum of three students from the same institution. Applicants must be members or student affiliates of Division 15 at the time of the convention.
