The Division 15 Policy Committee is excited to announce a special webinar featuring Sarah Mancoll, MS—the Policy Director for APA Division 9 (the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, or SPSSI). Those interested may learn more and register here.

Date: Thursday, Mar 26, 2020
Time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM CDT
Cost: Free!

About the Event: Policy writing can look very different from academic writing. In this webinar, Sarah Mancoll will provide an overview on how to identify an appropriate policy audience, how to develop an appropriate message for that audience, and how to choose a writing medium that best suits the audience and message. The presenter will also highlight best practices when it comes to writing for a policy audience (e.g., avoiding the use of jargon, not burying the lede) and answer questions from webinar attendees.

About the Presenter: Sarah Mancoll, MS is the Policy Director for APA Division 9 (the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, or SPSSI). As SPSSI’s Policy Director, Sarah organizes congressional briefings, drafts public statements, manages the selection of SPSSI’s policy fellows, organizes policy preconference events and webinars, and directs the SPSSI Council’s annual advocacy day on Capitol Hill. Sarah has a BS in human development from Cornell University and an MS in social policy and planning from the London School of Economics & Political Science.
