Dear Fellow Researchers,
My name is Kinnari Atit, and I am an assistant professor in the School of Education at UC Riverside. Drs. Emily Peterson, Zack Hawes, Katie Gilligan-Lee, and I are conducting a meta-analysis examining the relations between spatial skills and science achievement in K-12 and postsecondary/undergraduate students. We are requesting any unpublished data or reports of such data (e.g., conference papers) which meet the following criteria:
- Study sample includes kindergarten to 12th grade students and/or undergraduate students
- Study employs psychometric measures of spatial skills, such as (but not limited to):
- mental rotation
- spatial visualization
- perspective taking/spatial orientation
- visuospatial working memory
- horizontality
- disembedding
- Study includes assessments of science learning/achievement, in domains such as (but not limited to):
- Biology
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Astronomy
- Anatomy
- Earth science
- Neuroscience
- Bivariate correlations between measures of spatial skills and measures of science achievement need to be reported/can be calculated
If you have data that you believe fit these criteria (or know of others who have such data), please contact Kinnari directly at [email protected]. Additionally, if you have any published data that fits the criteria that you would like to ensure make it into the meta-analysis, please reach out and we can confirm that the study is included.
Thank you!
Kinnari Atit, Emily Peterson, Zack Hawes, and Katie Gilligan-Lee
