May 15 | Disinformation and Democracy in 2025 with Nina Jankowicz

Nina Jankowicz, winner of the 2024 division 46 award for “Distinguished Professional Contributions to Media Psychology & Technology”, will engage in a conversation with Dr. Susan J. Eddington, 2024 awards committee chair. They will discuss the current state of information integrity, including attacks on disinformation researchers and government officials working for the truth. They will also examine the outlook for academic freedom and the challenges in protecting the rights of those in academia.

By the end of this webinar, attendees will takeaway the following insights:

  • Be informed about the state of trust and safety efforts at social media platforms;
  • Understand ongoing attacks on disinformation researchers; and,
  • Be equipped with ways to fight back.

Nina Jankowicz is an internationally-recognized expert on disinformation and democratization, one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in AI, and the author of two books: How to Lose the Information War (Bloomsbury 2020), which The New Yorker called “a persuasive new book on disinformation as a geopolitical strategy, ” and How to Be A Woman Online (Bloomsbury 2022), an examination of online abuse and disinformation and tips for fighting back, which Publishers Weekly named “essential.” She is the co-founder of the American Sunlight Project, a non-profit focused on countering disinformation. Jankowicz has advised governments, international organizations, and tech companies, and testified before the US Congress, and the UK, Canadian, and European Parliaments.
