We invite you to join us for the fourth webinar in the Advancing a Critical Health Service Psychology webinar series! This event is a key part of Dr. Mel Wilcox’s presidential initiative, Advancing a Critical Counseling Psychology. The webinar series, supported by a CODAPAR grant, reflects a collaborative partnership among Divisions 17 (Counseling Psychology), 16 (School Psychology), and 12 (Clinical Psychology).
The fourth webinar, titled “Engaging in Research through a Critical Psychology Lens,” is scheduled for Monday, May 12th from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET. Please find the flyer attached for more details.
This webinar will feature Drs. Jasmine Brooks Stephens, Matt Miller, and Sujay Sabnis, who will offer presentations examining how critical psychology can reshape research practices in psychology into a catalyst for social change, healing, and justice. Drawing on frameworks such as Critical Race Theory and Liberation Psychology, the session will emphasize how applied research can produce practitioner-oriented recommendations that disrupt dominant narratives of social change. Participants will be encouraged to reimagine research as a vehicle for cultural responsiveness, community engagement, and healing-centered interventions for historically marginalized communities.
Attendees at the live webinar will be eligible for 1.5 CE credits through Division 17 (see details on the flyer). CEs will be available asynchronously at a later date via Division 12’s online portal. The recording will also be made available (absent CE eligibility) via Division 17’s YouTube channel.
