Please join us for a free Division 15 webinar, hosted by the Division 15 Policy Committee, on Monday, July 14th at noon PDT (3:00 PM EDT).

The webinar will explore how educational research is used by policymakers and how to develop a research agenda that policymakers at the national and state levels will find useful, especially in the present political environment.

Panelists:

  • Dr. Kylee Probert will discuss her work in the Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) as well as the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), on how research informs policy at the federal agency level.
  • Dr. Shirley Huang will discuss her perspective as a research analyst at the Institute for Educational Sciences (IES) and a program officer at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
  • Dr. Carly Champagne will briefly discuss her work in the Office of Child Care (OCC) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) as a policy specialist and summarize key takeaways for researchers with work relevant to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) across these HHS agencies (OPRE, NIH, ACF).
  • Dr. Michael Nussbaum will discuss his background as a program analyst for the California Legislature and the role of research in affecting state policy.
  • Dr. Sharon Nichols will discuss the division’s new policy journal and the kind of research that would be appropriate for submission.
