Division 15 Members and Friends,

Two years ago, I was brought on by Division 15 to help coordinate online communication efforts. At the time, we had a simple Facebook page with 135 fans. The fact that we’ve now passed the 2,000 fan mark—just two years later—is a testament to the boundless potential of this organization.

As many of you may know, I am not an educational psychologist myself—in fact, I started my career as a content strategist, helping large corporations reach a global consumer base. Despite our varied backgrounds, I found myself welcomed into Division 15 with open arms (and great patience!). For this, I must offer a special thanks to Division 15 Presidents Marty Carr, Judith Meece, and Terri Thorkildsen—all of whom spent a great deal of time and energy acquainting me with your field and the culture of higher education.

Beyond the service of these Presidents, I’m constant astounded by the dedication of all Division 15 volunteers. It takes 19 committees—comprised of members around the world—to run the organization you see today. And, the organization only runs smoothly because so many members step beyond the call of duty to do remarkable things.

Having immersed myself in current news and research, I’ve come to understand just how transformative the next few decades will be—both within schools, and for those touched more broadly by educational initiatives. These growth opportunities require a dynamic set of scholars capable of producing solid, actionable research. Fortunately, my time in Division 15 has convinced me that we have such outstanding scholars and capabilities. I know we are in good hands.

To all reading this letter: Many thanks for letting me be a part of this journey. I continue to look for ways to add value to Division 15 and hope to continue advocacy on behalf of its membership!

Best,

Wade George

Director of Communications
