Special Issue

Theory into Practice (TIP) is calling for submissions focused on the educational legacy of Albert Bandura. TIP is published quarterly by Taylor & Francis and only publishes special thematic issues. All articles are written about applications of theory and research to practice. TIP does not publish original empirical studies. The articles are relatively short compared with other journals. Additional information about TIP can be found here: https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/htip20/current.

Overview

Albert Bandura was one of the greatest psychologists of all time. His social cognitive theory helped transform theory from primarily behavioristically based to also emphasizing cognitions and affects. His ideas have been widely applied to diverse fields including education, medicine, health, business, and athletics.

This special issue aims to highlight the many ways that Bandura’s theory and research have been applied to education to improve the practice of educators, learners, school professionals, and practitioners. We will consider articles that reflect diverse principles and processes of Bandura’s theory and research such as modeling, observational learning, self-efficacy, goal setting, goal properties, outcome expectations, emotions, cultural practices, and moral disengagement, among others.

We seek conceptual manuscripts, based on prior research, that offer practical solutions and approaches that translate into practical learning and contextual environments. We invite potential authors to submit a one-page article proposal that includes the following: (a) proposed title of the manuscript and names and affiliations of authors; (b) theoretical background information, including historical influences on contemporary theory from which educational practices would be derived; (c) explanation of how the manuscript fits with the purpose of the special issue and how it advances existing knowledge and practices; (d) description of the specific practices that the manuscript will discuss; (e) description of the age group(s) and/or populations that will be discussed; and (f) recommendations for further study.
