Hello. I am a doctoral learner studying under the direction of Professor Pat D’Urso in the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University. My name is Elizabeth Hobbs. I am conducting a research study to explore instructors’ experiences in online discussion forums at private universities.
INCLUSION- I am recruiting individuals that meet this criteria:
• >24 years old.
• 3 years online postsecondary teaching.
• Taught an online postsecondary course in the past year at a private university.
• Establish presence in discussion forums.
• Encourage student engagement in discussion forums.
• Willing to answer personal, identifiable demographics of your age, gender, ethnicity, and education (5 min).
EXCLUSION- You cannot be in this study if:
• <24 years old.
• 3 years online postsecondary teaching.
• Not taught an online postsecondary course in the past year at a private university.
• No established presence in discussion forums.
• No encouragement of student engagement in discussion forums.
• Unwilling to answer personal, identifiable demographics of your age, gender, ethnicity, and education (5 min).
• Not an instructor (i.e. a teaching assistant).
The ACTIVITIES for this research project will include:
• Questionnaire. Answer personal questions (5 min.). Via Survey Monkey.
• On-on-one Interview. Discuss teaching (60-90 min.). Via Zoom. Audio and video recorded.
• Optional Focus Group. Discuss teaching (60-90 min.). Via Zoom. Audio and video recorded.
Your participation in this study is voluntary.
All data in this study will be protected. Data will be stored on a PC, in software programs, and in a safe.
