Dear colleagues,
We would like to cordially invite you to meet with other researchers interested in motivation research at the 18th Annual Meeting of the Society for the Science of Motivation (SSM), which will be held in Europe for the first time next year. It will take place on May 28th, 2026, at the Vincci Marítimo and will be held in conjunction with the 38th Annual Meeting of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) in Barcelona.
The conference will feature two hot topics: conscious and unconscious processes, and the significance of theory building and development. Prof. David Melnikoff and Prof. Susann Fiedler will inspire us with their keynotes on these topics.
We welcome theory-based and data-driven submissions in the forms of talks and posters on these themes — and on other innovative and thought-provoking topics as well. When submitting, please indicate if your contribution fits with one of our hot topics.
Please submit your contribution (single papers, posters) until January 15th here: https://uqamfsh.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cvAMYzMrDinavJ4
Supporting early career researchers is a particular priority for us. To facilitate participation for students, doctoral candidates, and post-doctoral fellows as first author contributors we are awarding travel grants of $(US) 500 each. We especially encourage applications from individuals who might otherwise be unable to attend. To apply, please use the submission portal and upload your CV as well as a statement including a brief description of your financial need and how receiving this travel award would make it possible for you to attend SSM’s meeting.
Further information on the scientific program, registration, accommodation, and supporting social events will follow in the coming weeks and months and can be found at: https://www.scienceofmotivation.org/content.asp?contentid=162
For questions, please contact the co-chairs Ariane Marion-Jetten (ariane.marion-jetten@uni-hamburg.de) or Cathleen Kappes (cathleen.kappes@uni-hildesheim.de).
We look forward to seeing you at this meeting and to the opportunity to connect across oceans, learn, and be inspired in a fantastic city!
Best regards,
Society for the Science of Motivation
